Our client is a leading services organisation with a presence in South Australia extending over 150 years.

Providing services to assist a range of needs across education, health and well being, employment, disability, training, homelessness and domestic violence, the organisation has been a positive influence on the lives of many South Australians in their time of need.

The Financial Accountant is a newly created role, recognising the increased workload impacting the accounting team.

Reporting to an experienced Financial Controller the Financial Accountant will take on responsibility for several key areas including;

  • ownership of year processes end and completion of year end financial statements and monthly reporting
  • play a key role in completion of the annual budgets process, working with the various operating divisions to ensure the budget process is sound and the budget will withstand review by the finance committee
  • contributing to completion of monthly board reporting
  • where applicable assist with ensuring compliance with external regulations, legal requirements and internal policies.

Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in systems and processes will be an important aspect of the role, therefore a proactive personality with a desire to improve the status quo would be an ideal fit.

The successful candidate will assist the Financial Controller with management of the finance team and will be expected to demonstrate behaviours modelling respect, inclusion and team work.

Recent experience in a role requiring application of accounting standards applicable to a large reporting entity is essential and membership of CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Aust / NZ is highly preferred.
